Supportive and adaptable sessions as many children often need more than a single appointment for me to gain a clear and accurate picture of their strengths, needs and learning style.

It can take time for a child to feel comfortable, for us to build trust, and to understand the complexity of their communication profile

This package includes three appointments, planned around what will be most helpful for your child and family. In most cases, the first session takes place at your home.

Across the three appointments, we may include a combination of:

Home visits

Nursery or school visits

Parent sessions (in person or online)

During this time, I observe and assess your child’s communication through play, interaction and discussion with the people who know them best. At the same time, we begin trying out practical strategies together and build confidence step by step.

You’ll receive feedback as we go: this might include verbal feedback, follow-up emails or videos, helpful resources, or brief written summaries.

N.B. The Initial Support Block is payable in advance, upon booking. If it becomes clear that fewer sessions are needed, I will discuss appropriate next steps or credit towards future support.

Detailed assessment: £375

The detailed assessment package is suitable for families seeking a thorough, standalone evaluation of their child's communication needs, particularly where ongoing sessions are not required.

Payment schedule:

£100 invoiced following the child’s first appointment.

£100 invoiced following the child’s second appointment.

£175 invoiced following the parent session and issuing of the report.

EHCP assessment: from £550

Designed for families requiring detailed assessment and reporting for Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) in England.

Therapy sessions are tailored to your child and may include direct work, parent coaching, review sessions, or advice appointments. Sessions can take place at home, nursery or school, in clinic, or online.

Each appointment is charged at £80, with up to 60 minutes of contact time.

Consisting of an ADOS-2 assessment (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule), an ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised) and a school/nursery observation.

The ADOS involves observing how a child communicates, interacts socially, plays, and engages in imaginative or repetitive behaviours through age-appropriate activities such as storytelling, puzzles, and conversations.

The ADI-R is a semi-standardized interview used to diagnose autism in individuals aged 2 and up. The interview is conducted with a parent or caregiver who knows the individual well. It assesses social interaction, language, communication, and restricted or stereotyped behavior

A nursery/school observation of your child to observe them amongst their peers and to speak to the class Teacher or SENCO.

Priced from £1650 for an ADOS -2

The SOSI-M includes 14 structured tasks—such as standing on one foot, heel-to-toe walking, ocular movements, and sequential finger touching—that are designed to observe how a child responds to sensory input and maintains motor control. Results are scored manually or electronically and used to guide intervention planning, especially for children with challenges in maintaining posture, regulating movement, or processing sensory information effectively.

The fee for training sessions depends on the requirements for that particular course: number of attendees, location, and whether it is a bespoke or standard package.

Prices start from £150 for a one hour standard session.

I currently charge 70p/mile for travel to and from visits to home, school or nursery.

Service Level Agreements Directly with Schools

The Speech and Language Therapy agreement would provide you with 

Assessment of Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties

Intervention including 1:1 sessions, paired sessions or group sessions if appropriate.  Consent for all children would need to be in place for group intervention.

Target and programme based support for school and home use

Reports including recommendations for onward referrals

Following sessions SENCO’s will be provided with information on who has been seen and any onward steps.  An open dialogue between school SENCO and Michael Smith, Speech and Language Therapy can be maintained throughout the term of the contract.   Contracts are for the full academic year.

*  This can only be provided as a weekly agreement

** I am also able to offer schools one-off assessments and reports, e.g. for EHC application or referral to Paediatrics.  This can be provided without a SLA in place and is charged at £200 for an hours assessment time, liaison with school staff and report.  Additional time may be required for liaison with the family for some children.
